In Memoriam: Danny Snow (1959-2019)

The CBSA extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Danny Snow of Calgary, AB, who passed away on Sept 3rd 2019.

Danny’s prolific career as a goalball coach spanned over 30 years and five Paralympic Games. He contributed significantly to the growth and development of Goalball in Canada from his first involvement in 1983.

Over his extensive career, he coached both our Women’s and our Men’s national teams.

In addition to being a high performance coach Danny was always interested in sport development, and wanted young players to have fun.

The Canadian Blind Sports will miss Danny and his love of Goalball, the athletes and the blind sports community.

Jane Blaine, CBSA CEO:
Over the years I have learned so much about goalball from Danny, I sincerely appreciate him sharing his wisdom and extensive knowledge of the game with me, as well as with the athletes, coaches, officials, HP staff and others in Canadian Blind Sports.

Shane Esau, CBSA HPD:
Danny had a passion for sport and for individuals with an impairment from the grassroots level to the Paralympic level, I always looked up to Danny. He was the epitome of what Sport in Canada should be looking for in a coach & teacher.

Peter Wettlaufer, CBSA President:
I have known Danny since 1983 and have admired his passion and dedication to the sport of goalball and visually impaired athletes.

A celebration of Danny’s life will take place at First Alliance Church (12345 40 St SE) on Wednesday, September 11th 2019 at 1:00pm, followed by fellowship and refreshments.
