CBSA Official Attending the Games in Tokyo

The Paralympic Games is a dream goal for so many people to achieve & not only athletes. Representing the national team as an athlete or national coach is a remarkable accomplishment and something to be proud of!

This is the true also for referees, Ms. Launel J. Scott is the only Canadian goalball referee selected for Tokyo 2020 and she is very excited to participate in these games. Launel has been involved with Goalball for the last 30 years. She has coached both provincially and nationally, she has organised national competitions, volunteered on Saskatchewan’s provincial board as well as the national committees and is currently a member of the Canadian Blind Sports goalball commission. Even more, since her career as an official began she has seen about 10 different set of Goalball rules!

Her dedication and passion for goalball are a life time achievement. Referees, much like athletes need to be ready both physically and mentally. The role of an Official is as important and demanding as the athletes, without them the games would not be what they are today.

We wish all Canadians good luck in Tokyo what ever their roles may be.
