CBSA Announces Administrative Changes


Saskatoon SK April 5, 2022 – The Canadian Blinds Sports Association (CBSA) has recently embarked upon on a transition with the CBSA Administrative Team.

Robin Witty
Robin, currently a team member at Sport Law, is excited to join CBSA as the Interim Executive Director. Prior to joining Sport Law, Robin was the Director of Business Operations at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) for over 10 years. Robin was part of the team that oversaw the successful transition of CSIO from a small office-based organization to the world-class sport institute housed in the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. Before the move to CSIO, Robin was the Executive Director for Boxing Ontario for seven years and oversaw a tremendous period of growth for the organization including substantial new funding and exponential club development. Before entering the sport world Robin worked for the provincial government in a number of ministries, finishing as the Employment Equity Officer at the Corporate office of Northern Development and Mines. Robin is looking forward to applying her operational skills to assist the CBSA through this period of change.

Adam Janssen named HPD for Canadian Blind Sports Association
CBSA is pleased to announce Adam Janssen as the organization’s new High-Performance Director (HPD). Janssen was the former HPD at field Hockey Canada and brings experience working in the high-performance landscape in both Paralympic and Olympic sport. He has held leadership roles in Para-Athletics at Athletics Canada and consulted for the Canadian Olympic Committee. Janssen is a former National team goalkeeper (soccer).

“I am looking forward to getting started immediately in my new role at CBSA and working with our goalball teams to build on the existing success and help drive the teams towards medal performances with a strong focus on standing on the podium in Paris 2024. I look forward to working with the coaches, athletes, IST staff, stakeholders and members to continue building the sport across the country. “

Stephen Burke – Director of Domestic Programs
Stephen will remain in the DDP position where he continues to lead the events, coaching, officiating & safe sport portfolio as well as supporting Robin and Adam in their new roles. Stephen is excited about the future of the Organization and is looking forward to seeing the provincial teams compete at the upcoming Junior and Senior National Championships.

We thank outgoing CEO, Jane Blaine, for her leadership and dedication to the blind sport community; and David Chung, in his role of Finance Manager. Both Jane and David remain in their respective positions with BCBSRA. CBSA also thanks James Thompson, as our previous HPD. The Board of Directors is excited about this new period of growth and renewal and is looking forward to working with Robin, Adam and Stephen as our Administrative Team” said Launel Scott, CBSA President.
