Policy Summary: Reciprocation Policy

Note: This document is not the Reciprocation Policy. It is a summary of that policy. The definitive authority for matters related to this policy is the policy itself.

This policy requires organizations at all levels of the Canadian blind sports eco-system which participate in the CBSA Safe Sport Policy suite to share information across their jurisdictions on matters regarding the discipline of participants and any sanctions imposed.

It asks organizations at all levels to consider whether additional disciplinary measures need to be taken within their own organizations, and requires participating members and clubs to update their governance documents to reflect these agreements.
These reciprocation agreements are for the protection of all participants across the blind sports eco-system.

As a result, it specifies that CBSA will provide copies of discipline and appeal decisions to all Members with which any individual was affiliated

Where CBSA receives disciplinary decisions from a participating member or club, it will decide whether further disciplinary actions are to be taken at the national level.

CBSA will also recognize and enforce the disciplinary sanctions imposed by a participating Member and/or club. It will communicate to participating members and clubs any previous decisions where sanctions are still in effect regarding individuals in these other organizations.

Likewise, participating members will provide copies of discipline and appeal decisions involving Participants to CBSA and to any Club(s) with which the Individual was affiliated.

Participating members will decide on additional sanctions and measures when they receive information on sanctions and discipline decisions from CBSA. They will also recognize and enforce those discipline decisions of CBSA and / or a club.
Participating members are to update their governance documents to reference the reciprocation procedures described in the policy

Clubs will provide copies of discipline and appeal decisions involving their Participants to CBSA and to the Participating Member with which the Club is affiliated

They will determine if additional sanctions are required at their levels.

They are to recognize and enforce the disciplinary sanctions imposed by CBSA and/or participating Members, and update their governance documents to reflect the Safe Sport Reciprocation Policy and procedures.

No decision coming out of the reciprocation policy is appealable.
